Children’s Beach House awarded its President’s Award to retired state senator Ernie Lopez and state representative Pete Schwartzkopf at its annual Board of Trustees meeting on November 12. The award, which is reserved for those individuals, families, or organizations whose support strategically aligns with CBH’s goals and objectives, was given at the trustees’ luncheon at Children’s Beach House in Lewes.
“Pete and Ernie have long been friends of the Beach House and have supported our mission to serve Delaware’s vulnerable children, families, and communities for years,” said Board President Tom Sheridan. “Their help in securing grant-in-aid funds and other resources to support our kids is a testament to the impact of working across party lines, and it reminds us that we are all, regardless of our political affiliations, part of the same community.” Children’s Beach House relies on state and federal funding for roughly a third of its operating budget as it supports under-resourced children with speech and language disabilities.
Both honorees testified to the impact of CBH’s eight decades of work in their communities. “As our great little state continues to grow,” said Schwartzkopf, “the work of Children’s Beach House becomes ever more important in setting our kids and families up for healthy, successful futures.”
