Children’s Beach House Response to COVID-19
Dear Children’s Beach House Friends,
The challenges presented by COVID-19 have been unprecedented in nature and scope, and we recognize that the ongoing uncertainty creates anxiety for all of us. Yet, we are enormously grateful for the blessing of our remarkably strong, supportive, and resilient Children’s Beach House family! Working together, we are confident we can successfully embrace the changes required as long as they may be needed.
Following the restrictions announced this week by Governor Carney, Children’s Beach House has joined with a number of others in Delaware in the decision to close our Child Development Center. Additionally, our youth development program has been suspended, with the exception of our case management services which continue throughout the State. Our case managers and staff are providing continued support to our children and families through remote access.
We understand the disruption and hardships that these changes create for our families. At this time, we don’t know how long our preschool closure might last, and it is possible that more event cancellations and postponements will be required.
Limits on gathering size have also necessitated the cancellation or postponement of planned activities and community events. Our Golf Classic event scheduled for May 20, 2020 has now been re-scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2020 . Educere Institute professional development courses have been placed on hold and other activities and events are being evaluated on an on-going basis.
As you know, the situation to monitor and mitigate the spread of novel coronavirus evolves daily. Children’s Beach House will continue to follow public health recommendations and the direction of government authorities, aligning our actions as needed. Please be assured we will continue to do all that we can to facilitate additional measures that may be required to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our community.
As we journey this crisis, we are thankful for the opportunity to support one another, our loved ones, and those in need as much as we can. We appreciate your continued support of our ongoing mission to serve under-resourced children with communicative disabilities throughout Delaware.
We hope our extended Beach House Family, staff, volunteers, donors and friends are safe and all of us emerge from this crisis unscathed.
