Children's Beach House celebrates afterschool program

Children’s Beach House recently celebrated its Milton afterschool program’s first completed year with a student showcase, fifth-grade promotion ceremony and ice cream social.

Participating students from Milton Elementary and H.O. Brittingham Elementary schools shared what they learned throughout the year, highlighting their growth through creative projects, group activities and presentations.

The showcase gave families and staff the opportunity to see students’ academic and social progress firsthand. The event also honored graduating participants, recognizing their accomplishments as they complete the program and prepare for middle school.

Along with the celebration, students, families and staff gathered to enjoy treats from a Hopkins Farm Creamery ice cream truck.

“The showcase is a great way for students to feel proud of their hard work and growth,” said Terri Whitacre, Children’s Beach House afterschool coordinator. “It’s exciting to see their confidence build and to celebrate everything they’ve accomplished this year.” 

The afterschool program supports students academically, socially and emotionally through a combination of tutoring, social-emotional learning and creative opportunities presented in a safe and engaging environment.

Based in Lewes, Children’s Beach House works statewide to improve the lives of children, youth, families and communities by helping them identify, understand and utilize their own strengths, talents and resources.
